“TRANSIT”

Solo Show
Colina Gallery, Chicureo Chile

The concept of “Transit” reveals itself as a visual testimony of the passage of time through variations in strokes, colors, and intentions emerging from different phases of artistic production. From the years 2020-2021, in the midst of the pandemic, to 2022, when the pace of life began to regain its normalcy, up to the evolution towards the artist’s most recent creations.

From the mental and emotional state at the moment of painting, various proposals imbued with meaning emerge. Spontaneous and fluid charcoal lines during moments of relaxation; firm, secure, decisive, and thick straight lines; curved lines that trace controlled paths, as well as solid color surfaces contrasting with watercolor stains.

Moving from the calmness of blue to the range of fuchsia which expresses playfulness and experimentation, red denotes certainty, and orange radiates joy. Ochre and brown tones establish a connection with nature, while black and gray evoke pure contemplation.

“In the artistic exercise, I seek to set aside the mind, judgments, and expectations to fully focus on the act of painting, on the gesture and the stroke as a reflection of a moment in time. It’s an act of meditation, an exercise in awareness, of presence. The energy of the moment is captured in the stroke, and each work is an act of connection with the present.” (Zolezzi)

This contemplation and connection with the present as an attempt to stop time, questions its objectivity as a unit of measurement and encourages reflection on the relativity of temporal perception, which is so conditioned by the precise state of the moment. In conclusion, these works are fragments of time recorded during the constant process of “transit”.
